Birthday Wishes and New Supplies

My good friend Issy from school days recently celebrated her birthday.  I wanted to use one of the new stamp sets to make her card.  I decided to use the set Bloom Away.  As soon as I saw the Gum Blossoms stamp, I knew I just had to buy this set on the demonstrator preorder.  When I was growing up we had lots of gum trees and one of my favourites was a lovely soft pink in colour.  I have used the new in colors of Kiwi Kiss and Pirouette Pink to colour the blossom in and used Basic Gray and Going Gray for the card.  The background stamp is called sanded.

If you would like a copy of the new Idea Book & Catalogue 2009-10 let me know and I can arrange that for you.  It is chock full of lovely stamp sets and accessories.  I just love the new In-Colors and I am sure you will too.  Stay tuned for more projects in the weeks and months to come, which I hope will inspire you to get your supplies out and play.  Winter will be here before we know it and I for one will be tucked in my studio creating up a storm!!!

World Card Making Day

I held my world card making day event last Thursday and we made some Christmas themed cards and those adorable Sour Cream Containers (Sunny Boy Containers in Australia).  Nothing beats getting together with friends and having time to stamp!!!

I should add that one of the cards was a spiral card on the inside.  I forgot to photograph that in my hurry.  Will try and catch up and do this tomorrow.  I just love making these types of cards.  Suitable for every occasion and simple to do.

I am also chuffed that I have finally been somewhat successful at making a watermark for my pictures.  In time I will make another and fine tune it a bit more.

I hope you all had a lovely day celebrating our craft this year.  Don’t you just feel special that a day has been dedicated to our favourite hobby?  Not that we need any excuse mind you!!!

Til next time,

Keep Smiling and Stamping!

Thought I would share the card I made for my friend Renee on the birth of her lovely daughter Sophie recently.  Don’t you just love going shopping for babies and little people.  Such fun!  So many adorable little things to ooh and aah over, just like the babies themselves.

Friendly Friday

Today I am starting a new trend here on Innovative Designs.  I will be sharing some friends creations with you.  My first contributer is Annette.  We have been working together (nursing) for a few years now and have gotten to know each other better through our love of papercrafts.  Annette is very gifted in many areas of crafting including Folk Art.  Hence card making and throwing colours together comes naturally.

For her first contribution, I have chosen two cards and a Treat Box she has made with a baby theme.  I don’t know about all of you, but I seem to know of so many people having babies this year.  I am sure these projects will be very handy.

I don’t know about you, but I think these projects are adorable.  So thank you Annette for being my first guest blogger on Friendly Friday.  I look forward to sharing more of her projects with you in the future.  I will be putting up some of my latest work soon and please come back next Friday when I introduce you to another guest blogger.

Thought of the day

Always leave enough room in your
life to do something that makes
you happy, satisfied, or even
joyous. -Paul Hawken

I just love this quote!!! We all lead such busy lives these days and it is so important to remember to take care of us as well.

Yesterday was a case in point for me. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon, with old friends and new ones stamping and laughing together. My friend Julie, whom was our hostess, made her world famous sponge recipe which we got to sample in between projects and many good stories from our lives. Stampin’ Up!® has been such a blessing in my life as I meet new people and get to share what i love.

I will get back with a picture of one of the projects as soon as I can get access to a camera…stay tuned
