A Beautiful Sunny Day

I don’t know about you, but when the sun is shining I feel so much better.  Today is a very hectic one in my life and yet it cannot faze me.  I feel better than I have in a long time.  I am just posting to say I have a post I will publish after work tonight.  Have to ensure the recipient of this card has it before it goes live on the internet, I’m sure you can understand that!

I’m busy working on some projects this morning for my World Card Making Day workshop on this Thursday.  If you are reading this ladies, I have some really nice projects for you.  Ok, better dash and get back to work.  See you tonight!!!

New bookcase

New bookcase

Hello everyone.  Yes I am very late getting on here tonight.  Not very happy with the pic of the IKEA bookshelf, but wanted to get this up tonight as promised. I think some further reorganisation is required. I have a busy day before work tomorrow.

Thought I would also add one of my workdesk with my macbook on it as well.

Ok, time to go and get some sleep.  I NEED an early night for a change.  Till next time.

It’s Up!!!

At long last I have the bookcase up and have added lots of stuff onto it’s shelves.  In fact it is already full *shock*  How did THAT happen?  I know I know, I am a hunter gatherer!  Definitely want to get another one of these, but it will be some time off.  I am very happy that the room is more spacious with less cumbersome furniture in it.

I have managed to relocate my cane display case into a corner of the loungeroom, so that has also given me some new floor space and a place for my beloved Missy’s bed 🙂  Now she can reside in comfort near me when I create.  She is VERY happy about that.  She has already tested it out whilst I have been clearing out a cupboard or rearranging things on the bookcase.

Ok, better dash and run some errands before I go off to work.  Will find the camera, which is still buried on my craft desk somewhere, and take some pics tomorrow.  See you then!

A Long Day….

Ok, it’s official, I am pooped.  I never realised how much of a job a revamp of my studio was going to be.  After getting the computer and desk out the day before, I thought today was going to be a breeze.  Think again.  I never realised now much ribbon I have purchased over the years and not used *red face*.  You know the story, gotta have it but can’t possibly cut and use it cos it is too pretty!  I have culled and given away a lot of it and the rest I am revamping the storage of.

I started, yes you heard right, I started to put the bookcase together today.  I opened the instruction book and took out ALL the pieces of wood and hardware and thought, hmmmm lots of stuff here.  Now anyone who knows me well, knows I have had considerable experience in putting together flat packed stuff in the past.  My major problem is I get to the end and usually have bits left over LOL.  BUT, in my defence, the item still worked well LOL.

So armed with all this stuff I set about matching the hardware to the diagram of them in the manual.  Mission accomplished.  I went from steps 1-5 in 30 minutes, not bad, but took 1 hour to get to step 6 hmmm.  Well it really isn’t easy to hold stuff together on ones own, line up nails and drive them home, and don’t even get me started on the lack of space and the awkward positions I had to work in.  No wonder my shoulder is sore tonight.  So tomorrow I have to put on the shelf supports on the two fixed shelves, add the decorative moulding and fit the adjustable shelves.  Oh and get it off the floor and stand it up.  Will definitely need help with that job.  Fingers crossed I can get this accomplished AND get my stamp collection in it BERFORE I have to go to work LOL.  I’ll keep you apprised of developments and I hope to uncover the camera so I can post some pics of the changes.

A Messy Day….

Filed under: Uncategorized — maggie mathern @ 1:06 pm

I have finally started to redesign my craft studio!!!  The bookcase I ordered from IKEA arrived whilst I was at work on Tuesday.  Once I get the computer desk outta here I can assemble it.  It will be good to have my stuff openly displayed, as I have recently learnt I am even more of a visual person than I first thought.  What does this mean you ask?  If I can’t see it, it doesn’t get used *red face*.  So the old PC is sitting on the floor in a corner of the loungeroom awaiting it’s new home.  Office chair is on the back deck awaiting removal to hubby’s workshop.

I love the CD boxes that you can buy in IKEA called HASSETT.  They hold a myriad of different items and can be labelled on the front so you can find things easily.  So I have adhesives/refills in one for example.  I previously had them in a basket taking up way too much space and it had multiple unrelated items in with it.  Now i know exactly where to go with little effort.

I will keep you apprised of my updates as they occur.  I cannot show you a pic just yet as I have buried my camera somewhere in here LOL

Keep Smiling and Stamping,

PS…sorry about not getting back with pics of projects I promised, but life got in the way, as it has a habit of doing at times *sigh*

A Fabulous Day…..

For the first time in a long time, I have taken time out for me.  Shane and I went by train to IKEA in Richmond today.  I feel it is time to rid my craftroom of second hand furniture, bit by bit, and create a space that is to be my sanctuary.  What better place to go for storage solutions than IKEA.

We took the train from Geelong to Southern Cross Station and went straight to our favourite coffee shop, Gloria Jeans.  Had a yummy Hot Mocha!!!!  Great start to the day and it certainly gives flagging energy levels a boost.  Have had a very busy week at work.  We then caught the 109 tram in Collins street to take us out to Richmond.  It has been a very nice sunny day today and it was very pleasant to sit on the tram and watch the world go by.

I just love IKEA.  Have I told you this before?  I love to spend time browsing around all their displays and day dreaming.  Ooh, look at this, look at that.  It was endless.  Time to go and have lunch in the restaurant.  Man do they know how to lay out a store.  By the time you are finished looking at the displays you are more than ready for lunch.  What’s a girl to have for lunch whilst there?  Why swedish meatballs of course!!!  Scrumptious.  Tanked up again and time to hit the market hall to find all the stuff I wanted.  Came home with some boxes, a shelf and a new waste paper bin.  BUT, my big purchase, which will be delivered on Tuesday afternoon, a beautiful new white bookcase.  It is called LIATORP.  If you want to view it either go to their online catalogue or pick up their catalogue and it is on page 84.  Very Martha Stewart like LOL.  I can’t wait to organise my stamp sets into this bookcase and other items.

This will be a work in progress that’s for sure.  As I change my furniture over, my old stuff is going to hubby’s shed.  So it won’t be wasted and he is happy to have it.  He already has some of the same stuff.  So a perfect solution me thinks )

Ok, well I am bushed.  Will come back over the weekend and share some more with you all.
