Birthday Celebrations

It was my dear friend Julie’s birthday yesterday.  To help her celebrate I made her a Tri Shutter Card – my first.  I am so excited to have finally bitten the bullet and made it.  Special thanks goes to Leonie Shroder for the kick in the pants to make one, and to Beate Johns for her very helpful video.  I certainly am a visual person and I love to “see” something created.

I hope you had a lovely day yesterday Julie, even if you did have to play “mum’s taxi” last night.  I hope the family spoilt you rotten.

I used the lovely Bella Bleu DSDSP to decorate the card, pearls from the Pretties Kit, lots of layers and piercing with the SU template.  Tell me what you think.

Til next time, keep smiling and stamping.

Cupcake Birthday

One of my work colleagues had a birthday last Monday and this is the card I have made for her.  I have used one of my favourite colour combos of Regal Rose, Rose Red and Old Olive.  I stamped the cupcake from Party Hearty using my markers in Regal Rose and Creamy Caramel.  The candle is Rose Red and Creamy Caramel.  I stamped the cupcake image twice and cut out the icing and placed it over the first image using dimensionals.  I have layered several layers of cardstock and the pink spotted DSP is from Sweet Always DSDSP.  I added some Old Olive Ribbon and used the Birthday greeting from the new Spring Mini Catty, which I punched out using the mid sized Oval Punch and complimented this with using Old Olive Cardstock to punch a oval Scallop.  I then stamped the cupcake in the same colours onto my whisper white envelope.  I love to have my envelopes to match my cards.  The recipient gets a sneak peek at what is inside.

I hope you have had a Happy Birthday Dianne and that you like your card.

Happy Easter!!!

Filed under: Stampin' Up!, Stamping, Uncategorized — Tags: , — maggie mathern @ 1:55 am

I hope everyone is enjoying the Easter weekend.  I am still doing my nursing shifts, but have found some time to relax as well.  I made this card and Easter treats on Thursday.  The choccies are going to the staff I am working with tomorrow…shhhh…don’t tell them in advance 🙂

Firstly, the card.  Not sure it is exactly what I had in mind in the first place.  This will be going to my mum.  She has been unwell with a virus over the past few weeks, so hopefully she will be feeling better soon.  Maggie’s mobile lunches hit the road today to help her out.

I have used the stamp set called “A Good Egg” for this one and did some paper piecing.  I blinged it up with some crystal effects and dazzling diamonds glitter.

Again I have used “A Good Egg” stamp set to create a tag and punched it out with the 1 3/8 circle punch which I layered onto a Tempting Turquoise Scallop Circle.  I then added the dots with the white gel pen.

Thanks for looking and I hope you continue to receive the blessings of Easter.  Stay safe on the roads if you are out and about.

A Window On The World

Filed under: Stampin' Up!, Stamping — Tags: , , — maggie mathern @ 11:19 am

When I got the chance to preorder some new stamp sets from the new catalogue, I jumped at the chance.  Particularly the Level 3 Hostess Set called Window Dressing.  I had so many ideas swirling around in my head for how I would use it.  The following card took me 2-3 days to complete.  I would get stuck on what I was trying to achieve, so walked away and left it on my desk.  I would return periodically from other activities around the home – read chores – and just look at it and try to determine what I needed to do to complete the task.  Oh how I wished for some new In-Color ribbon to match it.

I stamped the image twice and coloured only the shutters and semi circular window at the top on one image and layered the second image on top.  I scored the shutters on the upper image so they are actually raised up at the sides.  This may not be too evident in the picture, but hopefully you get what I mean.  Anyways, here is my finished card.  Let me know what you think of it.

I was trying to work out what it reminded me of.  I finally have it.  It reminds me of Holly Hobby from years ago, especially with the spots in the background.  A classic kind of look.

Supplies:

Stamps:  Window Dressing, Spotted BG

Cardstock:  Baja Breeze, Close To Cocoa, Watercolor Paper

Inks:  Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Close To Cocoa, More Mustard, Old Olive, Ruby Red, Black Stazon

Other:  Dimensionals, Snail, Aquapainter, SAMJ, Bone Folder (to score)

Criss Cross Cards

Criss Cross Cards

I finally sat down the other day and made some of these.  I have used the Apple Cider DSP for these.  I love this paper but had not gotten around to using it.  They would make great cards for Halloween or masculine cards.  I did not make a belly band for them, but they could be added for a bit more pizzaz.  Here are some pics.

Hope you enjoyed seeing these cards as much as I have making them.

These can be made to suit any occasion…hmmm can see some Christmas cards coming up.

My Studio Finally Has It’s Sign!!!

Yep, this is one of the projects I told you about in my last post.  I did manage to complete and photograph it the next day, however couldn’t get the picture to load into PSE6 to edit it.  Don’t ya just love technology LOL.

Oh well, it is done now.  Let me know what you think of it.  If I did it over, would have made the main board green and maybe a different patterned paper behind the name, but went with what I had at hand at the time.  Besides, could always make a different sign for different seasons of the year *wink*.

A great day….

YES!!!! I have finally had time to myself to create and I have had a ball…but guess what???….I have absolutely nothing to show for it!!!  How is that possible you ask?  I have done lots of painting, preparation and planning today.  I have also used crystal effects, so need to wait for it all to dry before I do anymore.  My studio looks like a bomb has hit it…but I LOVED every moment of it.

My beloved doggie kept me company all day.  She follows me wherever I go and even snored in time to some music LOL.  Every now and again demanding my attention.  She has a way of putting her snout in my way or using her talons to get my attention.

Ok, I am bushed and off to bed.  Hopefully will get some more done before work tomorrow.  Will photograph and upload as soon as possible.

Keep smiling and stamping,

Just another Manic Monday

The best plans of mice and men as they say…yep…my day.  I will NOT be deterred though.  Here it is 10 am and I am just going to have my shower and get dressed for the day.  I swear technology is all consuming of time LOL.  After my shower I am taking the phone off the hook and creating the day away…shhhhh…don’t tell anyone or that might not happen either *rolling eyes*.  This happens so often in our lives.  I worked my butt of yesterday so I could have today free…for ME!!!  (well…I still have my butt but you know what I mean)

Ok, off to have said shower and then into my room.  Time to create a sign for my door I think 🙂 and get cracking on some Christmas Cards..and it is time I started that Cruise album I have promised myself to do for years.  I went on TSS Fairstar in January 1990…it was a blast.  Need to find the box of pics/memorabilia.  I had a huge organising marathon a few years back to make the scrapbooking easier, but have not gotten around to it.

World Card Making Day

I held my world card making day event last Thursday and we made some Christmas themed cards and those adorable Sour Cream Containers (Sunny Boy Containers in Australia).  Nothing beats getting together with friends and having time to stamp!!!

I should add that one of the cards was a spiral card on the inside.  I forgot to photograph that in my hurry.  Will try and catch up and do this tomorrow.  I just love making these types of cards.  Suitable for every occasion and simple to do.

I am also chuffed that I have finally been somewhat successful at making a watermark for my pictures.  In time I will make another and fine tune it a bit more.

I hope you all had a lovely day celebrating our craft this year.  Don’t you just feel special that a day has been dedicated to our favourite hobby?  Not that we need any excuse mind you!!!

Til next time,
