Why Do I Do This?

Filed under: Uncategorized — maggie mathern @ 11:38 am

leave things to the last minute?   Do any of you do this too?  Come on, please tell me you do so I don’t feel so bad LOL.  I promised myself last year that I would never again leave doing my taxes till the last minute, but yet again I am in this situation.  So today is the day.  No matter what else I have to do, this is my number one priority today.  Fingers crossed I was a vigilant as I think I was at putting everything I need into my files.

Another Year Over….

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — maggie mathern @ 12:28 pm

and a New One about to begin…sigh…

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and got spoilt by that jolly old man in his red suit…I sure did.  As one year draws to a close and the next one comes in, it is a time of great reflection in our lives.  Have we achieved what we set out at the beginning of the year to do?  Did our resolutions last longer than a week LOL   This has happened to me before *rolling eyes*.

I have been thinking about this  a lot lately and I expressed this same thing in Elite Stampers forum today.  We really should celebrate everyday that we are still here and able to experience life…waking up in the morning is something we take for granted…it often takes major illness or death of someone we love or whom is really young to wake us up to this fact.

I have decided to express my gratitude for the “little” things in life more this next year and it is time I actually made my gratitude album…which will be a work in progress over the whole of 2009.

I think I also need to be kinder to myself…I tend to think I should be able to do the impossible…I don’t expect this of anyone else, so why should I have to live up this standard?

That and getting off my butt and getting more fit/healthy…ok….guess this has just become a New Year’s resolution.  What is on your list of things to achieve next year?

Ok, will be back tomorrow as I am heading off to work now.

Keep Smiling and Stamping,

2nd Day of Christmas

I had seen lots of blogs in the US/Canada where people were using a product called Liquid Applique to put snow on their cards & projects.  I sourced some online and made these.  I think it adds a lovely detail.  What do you think?

A Time To Give Thanks….

Today has been a very happy time in our family.  I give thanks that my mum is back home again after being in hospital having a total knee replacement.  I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.  So I now hope to be able to have some time to do some creating and share with you all on a more regular basis.

I have been busy on some behind the scenes stuff too, so watch out for a transformation soon.

Cheers

Oh my gosh, where did October go?  I have had several things I wanted to share with you including last night’s Halloween stuff.  Unfortunately it will have to wait till tomorrow.  I am now off to work.

If you celebrated Halloween, I hope you had an awesome time.  I made some treats and took next door as my neighbours are having a Halloween Birthday Party tonight.  I hope to get over (after work) and take a few pics of their setup on the back deck….looks awesome!!!  Complete with spiders in webs.  Great job Mandy!!

Ok, gotta dash.

Taking a moment to reflect…

Filed under: Uncategorized — maggie mathern @ 10:27 am

on the life of one of our great musical theatre geniuses….Rob Guest.  I awoke to the very sad news that this beloved actor/singer of Australian music theatre died overnight from a stroke.  He will be sadly missed.

Here in Australia he starred in Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera, of which I was privileged to have seen for myself.  An extraordinary talent.  He was the world’s longest serving Phantom, having played the role a record 2289 times in performances over seven years.  More recently he played Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music.

Words cannot express how I am feeling this morning, think I will dig out a CD and put it on.  Go and give a loved one a cuddle whilst you can.  Life is too short.

Keep Smiling and Stamping,

Maggie
